Well, the ladies are back at it, and this time Bravo is taking us along to celebrate two decades of their glorious delusion.

Before we start, a quick syllabus on what Bravo is attempting to pull off here for the Real Housewives newbies: To celebrate two decades of table flips, prosthetic leg throws, and unhinged rooftop meltdowns, The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th is taking a central cast of franchise heavyweights, including Vicki Gunvalson, Luann de Lesseps, Teresa Giudice, Gizelle Bryant, Kyle Richards, and Porsha Williams, and Lisa Barlow on a chaotic, cross-country tour of iconic Housewives locations.

Rather than sticking to one resort in Turks & Caicos or Morocco, this anniversary special serves as a rolling reunion tour. The women start in Orange County and will travel through Beverly Hills, Atlanta, Miami, and New York City, dropping in on dozens of local Housewives along the way before finally landing at Dorinda Medley’s Bluestone Manor in the Berkshires. It’s essentially a 20th-anniversary gauntlet: part victory lap, part forced nostalgia, and entirely a recipe for high-stakes drama.

We kick off with a slow-motion dance party where each Housewife pops out to deliver a high-glam one-liner interspersed with iconic archival clips. Without fail, Luann and Vicki take top honors. Talk about two genuinely insane women who belong in a museum (or a facility).

What a pleasure it was to watch NeNe Leakes pop into Porsha Williams’ house to ask what it’s like "swimming in the lady pool." Honestly, seeing Porsha so happy and living her true authentic life is a joy. Listening to her run down the lineup, listing what she knows (or blessedly knows nothing about) regarding each woman, was top-tier exposition while everyone packed. (Leaving Luann off her mental roster will definitely come up at the reunion). Also, Porsha's body? My god! "Holiday and love weight" my ass! Well… her ass. And that closet is so immaculate it deserves its own spin-off.

Welcome to the OC

Enter Vicki Gunvalson as the ladies assemble in Orange County. "I don't know why they fired me in the first place," she barks, instantly tapping into her rawest, most unhinged rage. As the women check into the Surf & Sand Resort, they greet Vicki, whose face has finally settled into whatever she decided was the ultimate final draft.

Each woman is forced to answer the dreaded producer question: How does it feel after 20 years? cueing a chorus of "I know it’s been 20 years, but I don't look/feel/act a day older!" Sure, Jan.

Then comes Luann. When asked about being called the Countess, she sincerely offers: "I'm just Luann from Connecticut... just like J.Lo is from the... hood?"

The producer immediately corrects her: "The block."

Luann just chuckles. That brief interaction is a microaggression wrapped in silk, and it is as quintessentially Luann as it is Real Housewives.

Vicki is thrilled to host the women in the OC, which, as anyone who has visited an OC beach town knows, offers stunning ocean views and absolutely nothing else except self-important, mayonnaise-adjacent residents.

To welcome the group, Vicki hands out the most underwhelming welcome gifts: a sound button that plays her snoring, and a conference bag of Coto Life Insurance paperwork so they can buy coverage directly from her. Can you believe it?! The most shameless, uncomfortable self-promotion in 20 years of shameless self-promotion. Luann’s response—"I don't know, I was expecting a lei, maybe some sunscreen?"—perfectly captures how everyone feels when Vicki attempts a nice gesture: deeply uncomfortable and wildly put on.

Yachting the Marina

The women head out for a yacht trip and the second Teresa Giudice (sharing a car with Vickie and Kyle) makes the mistake of saying, "This reminds me of Jersey," to which Vicki’s face almost glides off her skull as she mutters, "Really?"

Trash recognizes trash.

Despite a sea of OC locals filming them from the docks, the ladies set sail on what looks like a thrilling 15-minute loop around the marina harbor. Sadly, no drinks were thrown and no hair was pulled. Instead we are treated to a mediocre setup for the season with few highlights.

  • Life-size cutouts of their Season 1 selves: A cruel producer setup allowing everyone to discuss how much plastic surgery has occurred. Lisa Barlow gave the line of the night: "I get the sentiment behind it, but we could have passed." Naturally, Vicki uses her cutout to get back at Teresa's Jersey insult: "I think Teresa has changed the most." Deeply rich coming from a woman whose face has been through a 20-year home renovation.

  • Our most iconic moments: The ladies pick at the smallest small-plates of sushi in culinary history while producers force them to recount their most viral moments. Vicki immediately shrieks over everyone so she can go first. Watching them go down the line listing their own iconic memes feels forced and painful. When Teresa’s prison sentence comes up, Vicki somehow makes it about herself, yelling: "I don't want to know about this! That's why I pay everything on time! No back taxes, no late fees, NOTHING!" Everyone rightfully calls her insane. Teresa and Vicki are clearly going to be the dual engines of rage this season.

Bunco Night at The Quiet Woman

Back on land, the women deck themselves out for an '80s-themed Bunco Night at The Quiet Woman, the restaurant made famous not just by how often the OC cast eats there, but by the legendary night Shannon Beador threw a dinner plate at Kelly Dodd (who, frankly, deserved a dictionary).

At the restaurant, original OC Housewives Tamra Judge (on roller skates), Jo De La Rosa, and Jeana Keough are waiting. A sad parade of back-and-forth claims over who was "the first" or "the original" ensues, resembling middle schoolers fighting over a leftover participation trophy. Heather Dubrow is a delight, accepting her supporting role with class and grace.

Then comes Shannon Beador, looking like a member of a KISS cover band who survived a shipwreck and walked straight out of the ocean into the dining room, complete with a fake cigarette dangling from her lip. The women put on a dramatic show of welcoming her, handling her like an unexploded bomb. They aren't far off. The first words out of Shannon's mouth to her sworn enemy Tamra are: "Are you in roller skates? Did they even have g-strings in the '80s?"

Before anyone can take a bite of food or roll a die, Vicki takes the stage to trauma-dump her entire backstory: her divorce, Slade calling her an ugly muppet, how she rushed out to get plastic surgery to "fix" herself, and her deep depression. The camera pans to the other women, who sit frozen in pure, cringing discomfort. What was the goal here, other than holding the room hostage? Vicki then walks everyone over to a literal shrine featuring photos of Slade and Gretchen when Luann finally saves us all by breaking the picture frame and awkward vibe so the party can move on.

After an awkward toast from Tamra, they attempt Bunco (a game no one outside of Orange County understands) assisted by "hot male hosts" Tamra hired to keep score who are perfect examples of who OC women consider to be "hot"). The night quickly devolves into an intervention to force Tamra and Shannon back together, a. routine we have watched for many seasons and to which all I can say is: The "Tres Amigos" era needs to be formally retired.

The Verdict

We wrap up with some messy groundwork laid: Teresa is on Vicki's hit list for the Jersey comment, and Gizelle immediately repeated boat gossip to Tamra that Vicki had to defend. We can expect Vicki to explode by Episode 2.

All in all, Andy and casting hit the nail on the head. Orange County is routinely boring, so starting here means the trajectory can only go up. Ending the journey with Dorinda at Bluestone Manor is going to be absolute television gold. Hands down, the best part of this entire concept is the treasury of classic clips from the last 20 years woven into the episode like high-art artifacts.

RHUGT: Roaring 20th airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
